Happy Homemaker Monday #5

Happy Homemaker Monday
Sorry this is going up a bit late. There has been a lot going on this week, and things have been hectic to say the least. I've been trying to keep up with everything, and the days have been a bit rushed through unfortunately. This is also the last week of school for my son's preschool as well as our home school. Since he only goes half a day I home school the rest so I know he's learning everything I want him to be learning. Last day is May 30th so we are all really excited to get started on our summer.

The weather in my part of the world::
The weather has been kinda nice here with some great breezes. Despite the rain it's been great to sit out on the patio and just enjoy. We're planning some trips to the park this week, and Lucas has a school function that will be held outdoors on Friday so it seems like it's going to be a great day for just the thing. :)

On my reading pile::
The Messenger by: Siri Mitchell
How We Love Our Kids by: Milan & Kay Yerkovich
Some other fantastic books for review…

On my TV::
House Hunters
Gilmore Girls (my all time favorite show)
Local News

On the menu for this week’s dinner::
Monday- baked parmesan chicken, rice, corn
Tuesday- Baked ham, fried potatoes (fried in bacon grease), homemade mac and cheese
Wednesday- chili, cornbread
Thursday- take-out night
Friday- grocery shopping
Saturday- see above
Sunday- see above

Recipe I tried or want to try soon::
TRIED
Found this on Pillsbury's Facebook page. They put all kinds of fun and interesting recipes on there, and EASY!
For this recipe CLICK HERE
This was a quick, easy, filling meal. I made this one day with a few tweaks. I added in some mozzarella, and a bit less ketchup than the recipe called for. It turned out to be a bit hit with the kiddos so it will be something we will be making in the future. There's one similar that's a taco one I can't wait to try out.

Looking around the home::
We just finished lunch so Josh (my husband) and the boys are watching an episode of Max & Ruby on Nick. I think it’s such a cute little show, and it’s really great for girls and boys, but I always can’t help but wonder where in the world are their parents? Why does Ruby take care of Max, and why do we only see the grandmother? Why don’t they live with their grandmother? Guess I’m trying to look for more answers than a cartoon can really give. LOL
The dishes are rinsed and sitting in the sink waiting to be washed.
There’s a pile of library books and movies sitting on the counter waiting to be returned to the library today.
Floors are actually still clean and toy free for the moment. I honestly can’t believe it since it is after noon, usually there’s toys all strewn about around this time. LOL
Windows are open letting in a nice, cool, fresh spring breeze that just makes the house feel so comfy.

On my to-do list::
Menu-planning
Dishes
Re-organize kitchen cabinets (hubby helped me put grocery’s away last week and things are a bit scattered around. I usually wait until he’s occupied with something before I re-organize them. I welcome his help, but I have to have things in a certain order so things are easier to find. LOL)
Laundry waiting to be folded and put away.
Purging some of the boys books today. We found MORE kids books in a couple totes we had stored away so I’m going to keep a few, and give the rest to a church that could use them.

My projects::
I was going to try my hand at making curtains, but since we’ll be moving in a few months and the window sizes will be different I better just wait.
Until then I have some hemming and repairing to do to some of our clothes to keep me busy.

From the camera::
Nothing from the camera this week. But stay tuned for Wordless Wednesday I’ll be sure to have something.

Something fun to share::
Homemade Vicks Vapor shower disks
I found this at beingfrugalbychoice.blogspot.com
For the recipe just CLICK HERE
I don't like being sick. The shower can make it better, but I will admit I have used the Johnson's Baby Vapor Bath before to help clear my sinuses. This seems so awesome though, and I have to try it. Plus it's cheap to make, and natural so that makes it even better. I can't wait to try them and see how they turn out.

Bible Verse/Devotional::
Joshua 24:15
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
