A Treasury of Modern Mother Goose Rhymes

by Lillian Rose Jensen

Since I like to modernize the old fashioned myself, I couldn’t resist this book. It’s a compilation of mother goose rhymes except the author has the inexplicable talent of modernizing these old favorites.
The old woman that lived in the shoe now has maids and TVs, The little piggy’s that go to market get pizza’s, Old King Cole has a tv show. It is just amazing how these old time classics are turned modern.
They are all quirky and fun. I found myself smiling in spite of myself.
This book did not have any pictures, and normally that would be a big downfall for our family as my son just adores pictures to go along with the story. However, the poems were just so hilarious that as I read them we just laughed and laughed in spite of our previous picture reservations.
Not only is it a fun read for children, but as adults who have grown up with the timeless classics of mother goose you as well will enjoy these modern twists.
I have to say it is a job well done and I do highly recommend it. And even though there aren’t any pictures you can easily picture each poem in your mind and it is just riotous to say the very least.
Highly recommended, and a great something to read for afternoon story time to brighten up your day.
If you are interested in this book there are different versions of it, and both are inexpensive and totally worth it if you ask my opinion. You can get it in print, or ebook. Here is the site to visit:
